I like the way you framed the problem, rather than just another post on phone addiction. I look forward to more.

Thanks, Brandon. The world definitely has enough advice on phones, but for me a lot out there doesn't really nail the felt experience of how they live in our minds.

And, for me, people aren’t honest about what it's like to take a break from them, and rhe surprising pain that can result from that.

But I do think the tough bits have a utility - especially now that I am at week five and starting to feel the real gains.

Glad to have you along for the ride

As long as you’re not driving on your commute!

The high vis idiot vest definitely doesn't translate to a car... But there is a read across. I've been exploring driving in silence as a way of building in more unstimulated moments into my day. The science would suggest that driving silent would share many of the benefits that I'm feeling at day 30. Going to try and address this in a future post. I don't know if you've ever tried driving in silence? It's tough at first, but for me anyway has become quite pleasant. (Until I hit London traffic of course)

Loved the read (and thanks for the inclusion).

The quote “And then I go to bed. And in the silence of the night, the ghosts return. Soon I pass out, the follow up email to Clive still drafting itself in my head. “ was really relatable.

My mind races with unsolved problems (or made up problems) all the time. It isn’t until I slow down and challenge their truth and/or write them down that can I stop them from bouncing around in my head.

“Racing" is definitely too purposeful a description for my mind. It implies a finish line, when actually it's just chaos. Although it does capture the self-importance! My mind thinks it's it’s showrunning a Season 4 finale when it’s actually just 2 AM in Surbiton. It thinks it’s an F1 driver, I suspect it’s actually a kid on a fairground ride. I’m taking your challenge tactics into the Lab. If I can’t kill Clive with logic, I’ll try to drown him in ink. Report follows.
